Tokyo Broadcasting System International, incorporated in the State of New York, April 1989, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings, Inc. Our core business pillars are Content Creation, Sports & Entertainment Production, and News Coverage.
Tokyo Broadcasting System is a diversified media group with its nationwide commercial broadcast television network as its flagship. TBS is the lead station of the JNN network, consisting of 28 broadcast affiliates across Japan. We are a wide variety of content – from variety shows and dramas to news programming and live sports. The company owns and operates a nationwide radio network and the BS-TBS and CS-Channel satellite channels. The TBS Group also includes world-class content production via subsidiaries TBS Sparkle, TBS Glowdia and The Seven.

TBS International incorporated in the State of New York

1996
August

Begins involvement in Olympic productions with the Atlanta Summer Olympics. A temporary office opened in Atlanta.

1997
August

Begins involvement in World Athletics Championships productions as TBS acquired broadcast rights to the event beginning in Athens, Greece.

1998
October

Involvement in Host Broadcast production of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, overseeing production of Figure Skating and Short Track Skating venue production.

December

New York News Bureau’s studio control room begins fully digital operation.

March

Begins involvement in the TBS unilateral production coverage of the World Baseball Classic as TBS acquires broadcast rights to the event.

High-Definition XD-Cam utilized for MLB game coverage as IP transmissions commence.

April

High-Definition transmission of news footage from all three North American news bureaus – New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. – commences.

October

Managed Host Broadcast production of the 2010 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

2013
April

Managed 4k test production at The Masters golf tournament (with live transmission tests following in 2014 and 2015).

2021
August

Involvement with OBS in Host Broadcast production of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan (delayed from 2020), overseeing production of Men’s and Women’s Soccer at the main venue in Yokohama.

2024
May

Acquisition of Bellon Entertainment, Inc. as a wholly-owned subsidiary of TBS International, Inc.

2025
March

TBSI Content Business office established in Los Angeles, California.

September

Involvement in Host Broadcast production of the Marathons and Race Walks at the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025.
